Vaccine production is different from other BioPharmaceutical production, and waste treatment can be particularly critical. One of the big differences in vaccine production is the fact that the source material for the active ingredient is a live virus. In the early stages of production, all waste material generated (i.e. all material that has been in contact with the virus or its derivatives) must be considered bio-hazardous and must be treated with all due care before disposal. This means safe handling and effective bio-decontamination.

Getinge uses techniques and systems derived from the biomedical research segment (including, for example, government, public health and military institutions). Building on this, we have developed sterilization systems with dedicated bio-decontamination processes and equipment features for direct application within this area. The DPTE® system ensures safe transfer of materials without breaking containment.
