Okayama University Hospital, Okayama, Japan
Okayama University Hospital installed an impressive 20 new operating rooms, including one Hybrid OR. The hospital, located in Okayama, Japan, partnered with Canon Medical Systems and Getinge for this major undertaking.
The Hybrid OR features a Maquet Magnus operating table synchronized with the Canon Infinix-i angiography system. Getinge also supplied the ceiling supply units, Maquet HLED surgical lights, and the OR integration solution Maquet Tegris. The modular Getinge IN2 wall and ceiling elements, also from Getinge, were customized to accommodate windows to let in daylight, and printed with photos of Okayama’s famous Japanese garden.
From idea to realization
The project lasted four years from initial planning to go-live, highlighting the complex nature of Hybrid OR installations. Getinge was involved from the very beginning, providing advice on room planning, equipment selection, OR integration, and the synchronization of the table and angiography system.
Okayama University Hospital’s Hybrid OR is primarily used for cardiovascular interventions and other types of thoracic surgery. The hospital also reserved a space for an additional hybrid operating room, which will feature either a further angiography system or an MRI.
