Getinge introduces new version of Solsus 66 to meet CSSD efficiency needs

Getinge introduces a new version of its trusted Solsus 66 Steam Sterilizer – originally launched in 2020 – designed to meet the evolving needs of Central Sterile Supply Departments (CSSDs).

Sterile reprocessing is essential to safe and efficient healthcare. Hospitals face increasing pressure to deliver high-quality care while managing costs and space. Getinge´s Solsus 66 helps CSSDs meet these demands. Built on robust technology with over 20 years of heritage, it has become a reliable partner in sterile reprocessing. The new version retains its proven performance while introducing new features that enhance usability and operational efficiency while reducing the environmental impact.

“Sterilizers are the backbone of sterile reprocessing. With Solsus 66, we continue to support healthcare providers in delivering safe, cost-effective care,” says Stéphane Le Roy, President Surgical Workflows at Getinge. “The new version builds on what our customers already trust – and adds even more value.”

A frequent customer request has been greater flexibility in steam generation. The updated Solsus 66 now offers configuration options that allow hospitals to tailor the sterilizer to their specific infrastructure and workflow needs. A new combined steam option lets the sterilizer run on central steam or switch to its integrated electrical steam generator – two steam sources in one unit.

Other key updates include the award-winning intuitive control system Centric user interface and a header tank option that offers backflow prevention according to EN1717. In addition, Solsus 66 retains the well-established ECO Water Saving System, ensuring significantly reduced utility consumption.

“Sterile departments must do more with less, and do it safely,” adds Karolina Olofsson, Product Manager Steam Sterilization at Getinge. “Solsus 66 combines high capacity with a compact footprint, ergonomic design, and reliable sterilization cycles. It’s a smart solution for today’s CSSDs.”

Available in Europe and other markets where CE-marked medical devices can be sold, Solsus 66 remains a safe and future-ready choice for hospitals looking to optimize their sterile reprocessing operations.
