Getinge donates medical equipment to hospitals in Beirut affected by port explosion.

Getinge, a Swedish leading global provider of products and systems that contribute to quality enhancement and cost efficiency within health care and life sciences, has donated ventilators and anesthesia machines to several hospitals in Beirut.

Reception took place on Thursday July 29th, 2021 at the Ambassador's Residence in Beirut, with the presence of Salah Malek, Getinge MEA President.

In July 2021, Getinge provided 7 Servo ventilators and 8 Flow anesthesia machines to the hospitals in Beirut affected by port explosion in 2020. The explosion levelled buildings near the port and caused extensive damage over much of the rest of the capital, including hospitals. Nowadays, when all countries struggle with COVID-19, such equipment can make the difference and save lives.

H.E. Ann Dismorr, Ambassador of Sweden in Lebanon, is “very pleased to see this partnership between Getinge from Sweden and some of the main hospitals in Beirut ” and encourages that “this in-kind donation will contribute towards rebuilding the healthcare infrastructure and save lives during a very challenging time”. Ambassador Dismorr believes that “this donation is important because it comes at a time when there is a local shortage of these essential health equipment, and at a time where healthcare workers struggle to support the most vulnerable citizens”.

Our aim is to deliver world class care. Our comprehensive offering is based on decades of real-world experience in operating room and intensive care. Strong customer relationships and a deep understanding of hospital environments helped us deliver easy-to-use solutions such as Servo ventilators or Flow anesthesia machines” says Fadi Ghazal, Getinge Sales Director, Acute Care Therapies, Middle East & North East Africa.

“Our advanced Servo family ventilators provide options for different ventilation treatments since every patient is unique and requires different level of ventilation” adds Fadi. “Every patient comes with special challenges. Whether it’s a 300-gram newborn or an adult, someone suffering from acute respiratory failure or chronic pulmonary disease, the needs and complexities will differ. That is why we are committed to innovating personalized ventilation solutions that help protect the lungs and other organs, speed up weaning and support better outcomes” says Fadi.

The Flow Anesthesia Family brings advanced ventilation performance and safe anesthesia delivery together in one easy to use unit. Designed to ease the daily work, Getinge anesthesia machines will help to reduce postoperative complications, minimize agent usage and give more time to treat and care for each patient.
