Getinge continues partnership with Pratham Sweden

Together with other leading Swedish industries, Getinge has prolonged its partnership with the Swedish Industry for Quality Education in India as part of Pratham Sweden, supporting Pratham’s important work to ensure learning and growth of children in India.

Since 2017, Pratham Sweden has been running ‘Swedish Industry for Quality Education in India’ together with 13 Swedish companies. The project is implemented in the north-eastern states of Assam and West Bengal in India. Getinge has been involved in the project since the start. The objective of the partnership has been to ensure that the 30,000 children reached by the project are given skills required to contribute to future learning and growth. It also provides 30 young adults with employable skills, coupled with access to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The project has been successful despite the pandemic, reaching between 27,000 to 42,000 children annually between 2017 and 2023. Knowledge levels among the children have improved significantly and these improvements are sustained over time.

The continuation of the partnership, starting in May 2023 will involve two education programs:

  • Hamara gaon (English: Our village), a program targeting children, parents, and communities with education interventions
  • A skilling program targeting young adults

In March, a visit was organized for Pratham partner companies in Dibrugarh, Assam.

“It was an enlightening experience to visit schools in Dibrugarh, Assam, India where 32% population is below poverty line. Right from the innovative methodology of learning that Pratham has introduced, through the ‘Hamara gaon’ program that has contributed significantly to child development in terms of student achievement and community living. I feel proud that Getinge is a part of the program”, says Minal Khobare, Director Human Resources and Corporate Administration at Getinge India.
