About INS Vikrant

India commissioned its first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, on September 2, 2022.

INS Vikrant has been designed by Indian Navy’s in-house Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, a public sector shipyard under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways. Vikrant has been built with state-of-the-art automation features and is the largest ship ever built in maritime history of India.

A medical facility onboard the carrier

To cater to the needs of medical emergency on board, The aircraft carrier is equipped with a mini hospital that includes 16 beds, two operating theatres (OTs), and a CT scan machine.

Modular operating theatre solutions from Getinge

Getinge is proud to play an integral part in the construction of the medical infrastructure at INS Vikrant. Getinge installed IN2, its modular and integrated OT along with Moduevo, ceiling support units and Volista surgical light, at INS Vikrant. These solutions are part of Getinge’s operating room portfolio and were installed to support the operating theatres within the ship’s medical facility.

It is an honor to be associated with a project of national importance. We are especially proud that, in line with the ethos of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the modular operating theatres were entirely made in India.
We are also extremely happy to have delivered the project on time, with the highest level of quality, demonstrating our expertise.
