On October 16 & 17, Getinge celebrated the 10th anniversary of the European EVH Summit in Frankfurt, Germany. For many years, this educational event has given clinicians from all over Europe the opportunity to meet their peers and discuss the latest developments in endoscopic vessel harvesting (EVH), a minimally invasive technique used to obtain a bypass conduit for coronary artery bypass (CABG) surgery.
In the fall of 2016, the first European Harvester Club Meeting took place in Rastatt, Germany. Since then, it has grown into a regular platform for peer-to-peer exchange and learning across Europe.
Over time, the name of the event changed and the summit evolved but it kept its core concept. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, it continued digitally and today it takes place annually at the Getinge Experience Center in Frankfurt.
“The 10th anniversary is a huge milestone and shows the lasting commitment by clinicians all across the continent to endoscopic vessel harvesting”, says Matthew Clemente, Senior Manager Global Medical Education at Getinge.
“As the therapy of EVH has evolved, the peer-to-peer learnings are different every year”, adds Charles Merchant, PA and Senior Director Global Medical Education. The unknown aspect is what excites him the most about the summit. “The topics change, as well as the successes and challenges the participants share, and that makes every edition unique.”
Over the years, the summit has become a unique platform for clinicians to connect, exchange best practices and advance EVH therapy together across Europe.
“We hope that every clinician leaves the summit with something they can immediately put into practice. A new technique, a small workflow tip or even just fresh motivation”, concludes Matthew. “As Getinge, we are proud to provide a platform that fosters this exchange and helps advance endoscopic vessel harvesting.”
