From consulting to measurable change
Getinge offers more than high-quality medical devices and IT solutions – we focus on building long-term, value-based partnerships with healthcare providers. Through Hospital Transformational Partnerships (HTPs), we collaborate closely with hospital teams to improve outcomes, increase efficiency, and enhance both patient and staff experiences. These partnerships go beyond equipment delivery. They are rooted in consulting, performance commitment, and measurable results aligned with each hospital’s strategic goals.
HTPs are built on trust, transparency, and performance. Instead of traditional transactional models, these partnerships are based on value-based agreements that include Getinge’s commitment to support device performance, process improvements, and measurable outcomes – always in alignment with each hospital’s strategy and KPIs.
At the heart of every Hospital Transformational Partnership (HTP) lies a clear, four-step framework – designed to align with each hospital’s strategic goals and deliver measurable results.
- Establish needs and priorities
Together with hospital leadership, we conduct a joint analysis to identify clinical and operational challenges, aligned with institutional strategy. - Agree on areas of improvement
We prioritize key focus areas and define goals based on data and input from clinical and administrative stakeholders. - Solutions & outcomes
Based on these insights, we implement targeted interventions – including digital solutions, process redesigns, or change management – always with a focus on outcomes. - Ongoing partnership & investment
We remain a committed partner beyond implementation, supporting long-term impact through continuous collaboration, performance tracking and solution scaling.
From planning to execution and beyond, the HTP model ensures that transformation is collaborative, structured, and data-driven.
Case in point: A smarter approach to patient flow in Västerbotten, Sweden
A strong example of the Hospital Transformational Partnership (HTP) approach in action is the collaboration with Norrland University Hospital in Region Västerbotten, Sweden. As the region’s largest provider of public healthcare services, the hospital was facing growing challenges related to patient throughput, resource allocation, and information flow in its Medical Emergency Ward (MAVA).
The aim of the partnership was clear: to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery — without increasing staffing levels. To achieve this, a joint transformation process was initiated, based on the four HTP principles: establishing needs and priorities, defining areas for improvement, implementing targeted solutions, and investing in sustainable change.
A key element of the project was the implementation of INSIGHT, Getinge’s digital patient flow management solution. The system gave staff real-time access to key operational data — including the number of admitted patients, level of care required, scheduled activities, and expected discharge times. By introducing mobile devices and digital access to information, the hospital enabled staff to manage workflows more proactively and make faster, better-informed decisions throughout the day.
The transformation also included redesigning routines, strengthening internal communication, and setting up new digital documentation processes. Change management and staff training were integral to the success of the initiative, ensuring high adoption and long-term impact.
The results speak for themselves:
- The average patient length of stay was reduced
- The number of admissions increased — without a proportional rise in personnel costs
- The hospital was able to deliver more care with the same resources
This HTP pilot project not only improved patient logistics and operational efficiency at MAVA, but also laid the foundation for a broader digital transformation strategy across Region Västerbotten. It demonstrates how the HTP model can create tangible results — quickly, collaboratively, and with a long-term perspective.
