Today’s hospitals are challenged with reconciling increasingly complex OR technologies with increasingly limited staff resources. Compromises in quality are not acceptable – after all, patient health is at stake. One solution is to delegate certain tasks to reliable, intelligent technology that can help relieve the burden on clinical staff. For this to succeed, the first hurdle must be cleared: the “technical teammate” needs to be as easy and intuitive to operate as possible.

Intuitive operation and a reliable early-warning system

The mobile operating table Maquet Corin features a simplified, color-coded user interface that makes the system as intuitive as possible – so that even users with minimal training can operate the table with confidence. For patient positioning, Corin offers presets for common surgical positions and can even store user-specific preferences if desired. During surgery, the mobile table proves its value with integrated safety functions that make it a watchful team member. Just like modern vehicles, its collision detection system alerts staff working around the table or adjacent equipment, and it can even stop movements automatically to prevent accidents. The table also emits an acoustic signal to warn of potential overload conditions in its structure.

Smart connectivity for greater safety and efficiency

As more and more devices in the OR become interconnected to improve both patient safety and workflow efficiency, Maquet Corin has been designed to integrate seamlessly into this network. This also simplifies table maintenance: service technicians can remotely assess the device status before any scheduled on-site inspection, ensuring they arrive with the right tools and parts, or – in some cases – perform remote servicing altogether. Necessary software updates can be installed remotely, for instance during periods when the table is not in use. In the near future, this connectivity will also allow for predictive maintenance, helping prevent potential faults before they occur.
