KROHNE FLEXMAG 4050 Single-Use Electromagnetic Flow Sensor for biopharma.
The KROHNE FLEXMAG 4050 Electromagnetic Flow Sensor, pictured with disposable, gamma-sterilizable flow tube.

The first electromagnetic flowmeter

The Khrone FLEXMAG 4050 C electromagnetic flowmeter features a disposable flow tube, designed specifically for single-use biopharmaceutical applications like filtration, chromatography, or buffer and media preparation. Produced in a clean room facility, this biocompatible and gamma sterilizable flow tube features a standard single barb fitting, ensuring simple and compliant adaptation to existing single-use systems. The flowmeter additionally delivers a completely stable, direct, and accurate volumetric flow measure that will not drift over time and remains unaffected by fluid properties such as color or density.

Measurement performance

One transmitter fits 2 flow tubes diameters:

  • ¼" ID: 0.015...3 l/min
  • ⅜" ID: 0.07...14 l/min
  • ½" ID: 0.1...20 l/min
  • Or: ¾" ID: 0.3...62 l/min
  • 1" ID: 0.5...75 l/min
    (extended measuring ranges on request)

Accuracy: ± 1% of measured value, +1 mm/s

Biopharma compliance

  • Wetted parts of the transmitter are manufactured in an ISO 13485 certified site, with production taking place in an ISO 7 cleanroom environment
  • Wetted materials meet USP Class VI / ISO 10993 requirements and are BSE/TSE free compliant
  • Single-use flow path tubes are guaranteed gamma sterilizable at a 25 - 40 kGy irradiation, and are tested up to 50 kGy
  • Each tube is individually packed in a double-layered PA/PE pouch to maintain sterility
