New multi-modality Hybrid OR installation to support better patient outcomes in Italy

Recently, two new multi-modality hybrid operating rooms (Hybrid ORs) opened up at Azienda Ospedale at the University of Padua in Italy, following a successful partnership between the hospital, Getinge and Siemens Healthineers. The state-of-the-art installation will support the hospital staff in their ambition to achieve better patient outcomes.

Responding to the demand for surgeries that require multiple surgical teams and technologies, an installation of two new multi-modality Hybrid ORs at the Azienda Ospedale at the University of Padua is one of the so far most advanced efforts in the Italian health care landscape. It is also the result of a well-established collaboration between Getinge and Siemens Healthineers.

“A Hybrid OR is a place allowing clinicians to diagnose and treat in a single location, reducing risks and delays, improving patient safety and ultimately lowering costs. In a multi-modality hybrid OR, you combine more than one imaging system with an OR table,” explains Luca Sartori, Project Manager, Getinge Italia. “Thanks to our wide range of equipment and imaging solutions from Siemens Healthineers, we were able to create an installation that balanced the customer’s clinical needs and the required functionality of the imaging equipment.”

In addition to Getinge’s Maquet Magnus OR tables synchronized with Angio and CT imaging equipment from Siemens Healthineers, the new installation in Padua also includes Getinge’s modular room systems, surgical lights, anesthesia machines and ventilators, as well as perfusion offerings and digital solutions.

Seamless integration is about more than delivering a turnkey solution. It is about optimizing workflows and workspaces, synchronizing components, and implementing international hygiene standards throughout the Hybrid OR. This state-of-the-art installation truly is the future of surgery, supporting the staff at the Azienda Ospedale in their important work to achieve better patient outcomes,” Luca concludes.
