Four decades of innovating sterilizers
For 40 years, Lars Hugosson has been part of Getinge’s team that develops sterilizers for hospitals worldwide. He knows the machines inside out and is proud of how they have evolved over the years.
Since he started as a sheet metal worker at Getinge Sterilization AB back in 1983, Lars Hugosson has tried out many different roles at Getinge. For the last 30 years, he has focused on hospital sterilizers that come in various sizes and models, depending on the volume and type of goods.
“There is a Getinge sterilizer for every application within the hospital. We design them all with a high capacity in compact formats, keeping energy and water consumption to a minimum to help customers reach their sustainability goals,” says Lars Hugosson, Senior Technician in Testing, Research & Development at Getinge.
Throughout the years, Lars has been fundamental in developing steam processes for Getinge’s sterilizers – processes that are quick, adaptable and fulfill applicable standards worldwide. Lars significant contributions in developing Getinge´s formaldehyde sterilizers have been one of his main achievements that mark a milestone in a long career. Today, his work is about testing and verifying sterilizers and controlling that the standardized processes he has been part of creating still works and fulfills all requirements.
“Given all the time I have spent with these machines I know them inside out. I am proud of how we have kept innovating the products over the years to offer hospitals safe, efficient and sustainable high-quality solutions for sterile reprocessing of medical instruments.”
Right now, Lars and his colleagues are working on more innovations to hit the market in coming years, something he loves to be a part of.
“It’s an amazing feeling when your ‘baby’ enters the market. Getinge has always put a lot of trust in me, which makes work fun. If you want to accomplish things, there are always possibilities. It also feels good to be part of something important, which in the end help save more lives.”
